François Meïmoun - "La Danse de David"

François Meïmoun has added to his prestigious portfolio of collaborations. His new work, La Danse de David is a concerto for the cello and orchestra, commissioned by Radio France. It’s world premiere is scheduled for 16 February in the Auditorium of la Maison de la Radio. The piece was composed exclusively for Marc Coppey, an exceptional cellist who is very engaged in the contemporary music creation. He plays the “Dance of David” with an orchestra, alternating with more intimate dialogues that resonate with the orchestral thickness, notably the cello solo. In line with François Meïmoun’s previous piece Le Rite de la Nuit Noire which was a tribute to Antonin Arthaud, as breath and gesture, La danse de David’ once again brings out this intense work in its form and discourse.
