Olivier Messiaen (1992 - 2022)

Olivier Messiaen died thirty years ago and joined the Heavens with which he conversed from the tribunes of the Sainte-Trinité church Paris - and yet, thanks to the visionary and impassioned help of the directors of the Foundation founded by Yvonne Loriod shortly after his death, Messiaen has never been so alive: his name lives on through the Maison Messiaen in the alpine landscapes of the Isère region where countless important artists now reside, the Messiaen au Pays de la Meije Festival (the next edition takes place in July with an enticing program) and the Concours Messiaen (founded by the late Claude Samuel), now alternating between the piano and the organ.

After the Isère region, enriched by Bruno Messina's exemplary work , the entire world will soon know that Messiaen is still very much alive, whether it's via streaming platforms (on which the eight Piano Preludes and the Quartet for the End of Time are frequently played), in concert halls or in the intimacy of one's relationship with the afterlife, in whatever form it may take.
