2022: an exceptional year for Philippe Manoury

2022: an exceptional year for Philippe Manoury

2022 is a celebratory year for Philippe Manoury, and in honour of the composer's seventieth birthday, the year started brilliantly at the Phiharmonie de Paris and its String Quartet Biennale, and continues this spring, as shown in our attached calendar. The flurry of premieres (like those, to come, of two new Etudes for piano, Silex, Anticipations and Grammaires du Sonore) the prformance of the "Thinkspiel" Kein Licht in Amsterdam and projects (a new "Thinkspiel" is currently in preparation) forms an ellipse that can only be deciphered in its entirety with the help of the composer: no sooner said than done in an exclusive interview which we are pleased to share with you. Dive deep into a “Manouryan” year of celebrations like no other!

Several world and national premieres:

In 2017, Danielle Hennicot, viola soloist of the Luxembourg ensemble United Ensemble of Lucilin, premiered Philippe Manoury's Quasi una ciacona, a suite of variations for solo viola on a motive "in the memory of some Bach Partita" (the composer). Five years later, on September 17 and 18, 2022 at the Kulturfabrik in Esch-sur-Alzette, the composer will present the world premiere of his work Sul Ciacona under the same expert fingers, this time accompanied by soloists from the Ensemble - an event that intersects with the festivities of the composer's 70th birthday in 2022 and of Esch as European Capital of Culture.
