Bechara El-Khoury -

Bechara El-Khoury - "Il fait novembre en mon âme"

Five years after the attacks on 13 November 2015, this concert in honour of the victims marks the premiere of a new work by the Franco-Lebanese composer and poet Bechara El-Khoury, commissioned by various parents in memory of Stéphane, who died at the Bataclan. The challenge of this commission lies in the difficulty of apprehending through a musical form the notion of memory, of impossible grievance, of the unthinkable that has taken place, but also of paying tribute by considering both the social dimension and the personal suffering. How does one reconcile both collective and personal pain? How does one translate, through a new work, a mother’s request and a catastrophy that has also affected Paris as a whole? This creation by Bechara El-Khoury answers these questions both in the singular and in the plural. Then Mozart's brilliant “Paris” symphony will celebrate the City of Lights.
