Now in a mature period, Oscar Bianchi has learned, better than anyone, how to renew his art and his professional obstacles, by exploring the challenges of participative forms and novel instrumentations, not to mention curating in a variety of geographic spaces.
As a young composer, he embodied the excellence of artistic emergence: a fellow of Columbia University, associated with the IRCAM, praised by the greatest European and North American instrumental ensembles, one could certainly qualify the start to his career as ideal, crowned by an important lyrical premiere at the Aix-en-Provence festival.
He is currently working on several projects, in particular on a Concerto with an unusual ensemble... consisting of six double basses and an orchestra.
His public speaking is rare, but his intellectual and human influence, from St. Petersburg to New York via Europe and his native Switzerland, is spreading. We are all the more grateful to Oscar Bianchi for having spent time with us discussing his current creative activities.
