An eventful moment for Oscar Bianchi

An eventful moment for Oscar Bianchi

On 20 October, the last day of the 2019 Flemish festival Transit, the Diotima Quartet performed a preview of Oscar Bianchi's third quartet,Sintonia, in Leuven (Belgium).

The Berlin composer says:

"By the very nature of its instrumentation, my first string quartet (Adesso, another commission by the Diotima Quartet) dealt with the notion of the "family constellation", an unorthodox and non-Western ritual and therapeutic technique dealing with the numerous unknown and unexpressed truths found within family ties and relationships. My second string quartet, Pathos of Distance*, focused instead on the relationship between the known, the familiar and the notion of "otherness".My third and latest string quartet, Sintonia, now examines the potential wealth and the consequences of this "otherness" in our lives and our thoughts."

Following this highly anticipated premiere, the Basel Sinfonietta will perform Exordium, premiered by the ensemble in Poland a few weeks ago, conducted by Baldur Bronnimann. A return to the Swiss soil that witnessed the work's premiere in 2016.
