The first concertante opus duly claimed by the composer, Samy Moussa’s Concerto for string quartet and orchestra was commissioned by the famous Molinari Quartet and the Orchestre Métropolitain from Montreal. A quartet treated as a single sound body will give it the feeling of a pre-romantic sized orchestra as the composer is often fond of when he becomes conductor. Despite this apparent economy of means, there is no doubt that fans of the composer, on 20^th April, will delight in finding the dense textures and organic form for which they love the composer of Nocturne for orchestra and the symphony Concordia so much.
