Alberto Posadas continues his work in connection with pictorial artwork, in a new work entitled Tres pinturas imaginarias, and which will be premiered on 20th June, at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) by Ensemble Court-Circuit, at the festival Manifeste (Ircam).

By commiting to a work with three movements, a fairly unusual form for the composer, Alberto Posadas explores different painting techniques – the sfumato of Leonard de Vinci, the neoplasticisme of Mondrian, and the tachisme of Wols – which inspired him to find new sonic material and experiment with new compositional processes.

In this interview, the composer presents us with different sources of inspiration, and their implications on his writing.
