Hector Parra - Wilde

Hector Parra - Wilde

After the resounding success of Das geopferte Leben, premiered only just one year ago at the Biennale de Munich, Hèctor Parra announces a new opera, which will be premiered at Schwetzinger Festspiele on 22nd May, with Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, under the direction of Peter Rundel, with staging by Calixto Bieito.

Hèctor Parra chose to base his work on the theatrical work by Klaus Händl, Wilde oder der Mann mit den traurigen Augen, from which he asked the author himself to write an adaptation for opera, entitled Wilde.

This new theatrical universe, which tackles questions of language, identity and “toxicity” of human links, is very far from that in which Hèctor Parra has immersed himself for the past few years, with texts by Marie NDiaye, in the heavily dialogued content and in style. This new universe allows the composer to explore new musical resources.

In this interview, Hèctor Parra reveals the way in which he worked on the sound material for this new operatic work.
