Georges Aperghis follows the cycle of Études for orchestra, started in 2013, with two new pieces.

In this way, the composer dives back into orchestral writing from which he had strayed over the years. Each of these short pieces allows him to deal with specific material, which he attempts to exploit in the most successful way possible.

In this interview, the composer reflects particularly on the stakes of writing the Études 5 & 6, pieces which were composed for the Symphonieorchester Bayeurischer Rundfunk, and which will be premiered in Munich on the 20th March 2015, under the direction of Emilio Pomarico.
