End of a high-flying season for the composer Oscar Bianchi marked by two creations, Alfredo - suite for mezzo-soprano, children's choir and orchestra by the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana under the direction of Markus Poschner and Canzuncella - scene for soprano and piano, and two tours for Exordium and 6 db concertos for 6 double bass. This rich news rewards the research work of the composer who works tirelessly to integrate the audience: "I integrate it as if I were part of the audience myself, I try to take myself by surprise (...) it is necessary for my music to establish a new bond of trust between the performers and the audience".

What’s new for you on the end of the season 2022-23 ?

The premiere of Alfredo, suite for mezzo-soprano, children choir & orchestra, as well as the premiere of Canzuncella, scene for soprano & piano.

Then, the world tour of my work Exordium and the Swiss premiere of 6 db – concerto for six double basses – also followed by a world tour. Then I will host three summer academies, in Vienna, Warsaw and at the IYCA Ticino which I have been leading with great passion since 2017.

How do you integrate the audience in your composition work ?

I integrate the audience as if I were a part of that space myself, meaning that I look for ways to surprise that “unspoiled” part of myself, to renew the freshness of my listening. Yes, to be surprised by novelty, but especially by revelation and depth.

You mentioned the idea of enveloping the audience, could you develop ?

Whether it is a work intended to actively interact with the audience or trigger the deepest part of the listening act, it is necessary for my music to establish a new bond of trust between the performers and the public. It is not only about suggesting an idea, telling a story, but it is also about giving the chance to those who took the decision to be immersed by the sound to deal with a potential self-revelation.

What are your upcoming projects ?

Two new pieces for the Klangforum Wien and the Musikfabrik Ensemble : a piano concerto revolving around the crazy topic of the Metaverse and A.I., as well as a saxophone concerto. Last but not least, I am heading towards the conception of my second opera.
