Lefèbvre, Claude

Born November 11, 1931 near the lake of Ardes in France. For 19 years he lives in Calais, city of incredible storms, of long beaches with green waves, of noctural streets, the violence of brass instruments and bombings… 1955-65: extended stay in the Petit Morin valley, at ‘La Forge de la Trétoire’ (near Paris): music, poetry, exhilarating friendships… With Varel, a bright and charming city, he discovers Northern Germany, and he composes there numerous works in isolation. In 1966 he settles in Metz, where he teaches analyses and composition and later becomes the foundation-initiator of the ‘Centre Européen pour la Recherche Musicale’ and the ‘International Meeting of Contemporary Music’. He lives in the Moselle valley, at Jouy-aux-Arches (roman origin). He also writes poetry. He loves trees, the shiverings of night, strange celebrations and friendship…
