Joan Magrané Figuera -

Joan Magrané Figuera - "Abglanz"

World premiere of Abglanz, short story for orchestra, choirs and soprano by Joan Magrané Figuera:

Now accustomed to the best conductors in contemporary creation, Joan Magrané new work will be conducted next April 1st by the illustrious conductor Ilan Volkov at the head of the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya and the Ensemble O Vos Omnes i cantants de The Auditori of Barcelona. Maria Hinojosa Montenegro will sing the soprano part in this world premiere of Abglanz, introduced by the composer in these terms:

The piece presents two poems from "The Book of Souleika" from the "Western-Eastern Divan" by Goethe, an author with whom I feel particularly close: his universe is completely romantic and Germanic but always with a look towards the south, towards the Mediterranean, towards the light. From his “Divan” I am also interested in looking to the past, to the tradition of very ancient and profoundly beautiful Persian poetry, always so refined and suggestive. The two poems that I have chosen are presented in the piece without solution of continuity: first a song for soprano and orchestra and immediately a kind of litany for choir and orchestra with the punctual intervention of the soprano soloist. The solo part is always very expressive and with emotionally strong content. The choir takes on a more contemplative role, almost always maintaining an 8-voice division.
