Quelque part dans l'inachevé, for flute and orchestra

The project could be entitled "Kaze no uta o kike" ("Hear the Wind Sing"), based on the first book by the writer Haruki Murakami, or "Voyage initiatique du moine-guerrier" [Initiatory Passage of the Monk-Warrior] named Komusô, the wandering shakuhachi player from the Edo period…

Composing in the style of which the Japanese people use the expression "mono no aware" (the pathos of things) after having numerically captured the sound images of places situated at the heart of the Japanese archipelago:

The dry slipping of belts on the assorted silks of the kimonos… the distinctive feature of the “nightingale floor” of an old Imperial palace… the rain on the lawn of a temple garden during spring and summer, the rustling of the maple leaves… the peal of the monastery bells… without forgetting the silence: the vibrations of the moonlight that reflects on the sea of white sand of a silver temple.

To polish, to transform, to transpose, and then transcribe these “jade stones” onto the score; support the shadow, the light and reflections… to create units, segments, lines both smooth and fractured to reveal figures, elsewhere almost invisible… an imaginary city… to sketch “the sensuality that turned me into a drop of water penetrated by the sun, by the shapes and colours of the world”. (Giono)
