For the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chœur de l'Orchestre de Paris, Lionel Sow, its Musical Director, asked Philippe Hersant to compose a new piece similar in form to the Te Deum by Berlioz, work that will be performed on 21 January, in the Philharmonie de Paris, on the same program as the world premiere of La Lumière et l'Ombre by the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Bertrand de Billy.
The relationship between Lionel Sow and Philippe Hersant, which started with the great Vêpres de la Vierge premiered at Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris, this new opus for choir and orchestra introduce a literary and aesthetic reference to German Romanticism, important element in Philippe Hersant's works. During this interview, the composer comes back to the genesis of the project and to the conception of his score.
