Philippe hersant, Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise
Philippe Hersant announces a new large-scale work, written for the same orchestration as the Messe à quatre chœurs by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and for the same spatial arrangement.
Philippe Hersant chose to work from the poem by Antoine Godeau, Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise, paraphrasing Chapter 3 of The Book of Daniel, itself inspiring Saint François d’Assise and his Cantique du soleil, as well as the Christian prayer, Benedicite, and musically (among others) Karlheinz Stockhausen, with his Gesang des Jüglinge, one of the very first electronic music works.
Philippe Hersant, through this piece, follows his works with baroque instruments - work which he holds dearly and of which he speaks fervently, in this interview for Parade.
